I am a sole practitioner concentrating her practice in the areas of Probate, Wills and Trusts, and Estate Planning and Real Estate throughout Lake County and surrounding communities.   After 20 years of being licensed as an attorney in the state of Ohio, I left my prior law firm in the spring of 2016 to start my own practice.   Deborah Loughner, LLC opened its doors on May 1, 2016. I focus on providing legal counsel to clients in the areas of Probate and Estates, Wills and Trusts, Business, and Guardianship law, as I have years of experience in each of these areas.

My mission is to provide personalized and prompt service to my clients; engage each client in face to face meetings; and to personally return each telephone call or email message left for me by clients.  When I achieve that level of service we will form a long term relationship where you, the client, can confidently refer your friends and family to me for their legal needs.

Currently, I serve as the visiting attorney for eight Lake County Senior Centers (Perry, Kirtland, Eastlake, Willowick, Madison, Wickliffe, Painesville and Willoughby Hills) where I meet monthly with senior clients at each of the sites.  I frequently present 30 minute seminars on estate planning to residents of senior living facilities, members of senior centers and in other group settings.  I would welcome the opportunity to present a seminar at your civic group or church upon request.

About

I live in Willoughby, Ohio, with my husband Sam, along with our bull dog, Rosie and rescue cat, Smokey.  I have resided in Lake County for over 20 years, having grown up in Pennsylvania in a small, steel working town. I also enjoy teaching, having served since 2011 as the lead instructor in the Paralegal Studies Department of Bryant and Stratton College in Eastlake, Ohio.   In my spare time, I enjoy reading, yoga, walking the dog, and volunteering in my community and through our church.

Community

One of the reasons for starting my own practice is to increase my charitable giving.  This year alone, I have contributed to Smile Train, Noah’s Ark, St. Jude’s, the ASPCA and PETA, and varied animal rescue sites whose facebook posts have caught my eye.  I urge you to challenge yourself to find a way to help our world.

This year, I am serving as a fundraising point person at our church for a project benefiting local foster children.  You may have seen it on facebook, the name of the organization is “Together We Rise” and they sponsor Sweet Cases, which are duffel bags decorated and filled with items a child might need if they are moved out of their home and into a foster care situation.

For 2017, I am focusing on “recycling” by working on a “cleaning your closet” for charity and on encouraging senior centers to send their outdated library materials to the Lake County jail for use by the inmates in the prison library.

I also volunteer at Legal Aid Brief Advice Clinics, and host my paralegal students to perform the intake interviews during them.
